Lawyer (3-7 Year Call)
Aboriginal Law (Corporate/Commercial Focus)

We are seeking a motivated lawyer with 3-7 years of call to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate/commercial law and a genuine desire to engage in all aspects of Aboriginal law. This role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to impactful legal solutions that support the aspirations of Indigenous communities.

Location

Victoria, BC (In-office/hybrid options)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and representation in matters related to corporate/commercial law, including contract negotiation and corporate governance.
  • Engage in an Aboriginal law practice, focusing on Indigenous rights, self-governance, and economic development.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous communities, leaders, and organizations to support their legal needs and aspirations.
  • Assist other team members with files and projects ensuring a collaborative environment and a well-rounded knowledge base.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD or JID) or equivalent law degree from a recognized institution.
  • 3-7 years of call with experience in corporate/commercial law.
  • Strong interest and commitment to reconciliation and Indigenous rights.
  • Excellent legal analysis, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and Indigenous communities.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and understanding of Indigenous issues.
  • Membership in good standing with any Canadian Law Society, and the ability to become a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
